I honestly didn't know if I would use my kindle that much, so I wanted to get something inexpensive to try it out. I am really enjoying my Kindle reader and have read more since I received it than I have in the past few years. The lighting is great for reading during the day or at night without blinding my spouse sleeping next to me. It's easy to access my library and download new books; I like that recommended books are included on my home page.I had an original kindle from way back, for years and years. I loved it (and still do!), But one thing I had always wished it had was a backlight for reading at night in bed. I received an offer for this refurbished one and it was on the fence initially, because I didn't use my original kindle very often. Now that I have this baby, I'm reading it all the time! I love it! Perfect size and display. The touchscreen is nice as is the backlight. I take it everywhere. Wonderful.This is the only reason why I’m reading much more often.I was hesitant about purchasing a refurbished electronic device, but it looks and works like brand new. I especially like the Paperwhite because this Kindle is designated for reading only. I don't get sucked into social media or other distractions like I do in the Kindlefire.I've never written a review before, but this certified refurbished kindle is the best thing ever!!! I ordered the ad support version, and it comes without ad support! This refurbished kindle is just like a new one, and works really well.I wish the battery lasted longer. I could use my (very) old Kindle for a long time before I needed to charge it. Maybe because of the front light? Anyway, I do like this product.I've used Kindle for years now had at least 10. Every school and daycare should assign these to everystudent for reading home work! These encourage reading are user friendly and can be used even when the lights are out! Digital reading has been amazing and could change the future of education in so many ways forever.As expected. I got it refurbished and it is like new. I did get a cover for it which I would recommend.I bought this to replace my old kindle with keyboard which died. I loathed it. It was the wrong shape. It felt wrong and worse still when I used it I was always setting off some touchscreen feature that I didn’t want and then having to navigate to get rid of unwanted information eg I could watch the battery quickly losing power when all I wanted to do was read a book. My original kindle had a big button for forward and small one for back on the RHS and the same on the LHS so you could operate with either or both hands. I wasn’t just losing my place I was fast losing the plot and my chance for a good night’s sleep. To top it all, the dictionary appeared in a little jumpy pop up box whereas my original kindle you could easily go from book to OED in book form and back again.It was interesting to be able to read at night with the lights off and I can imagine times when this would be useful, though I’m not sure that it would be good for your eyes.Otherwise it was a wholly negative experience.The best I can say about this device is that it helped me identify what was good about my original kindle.It seems a shame that Amazon no longer has any interest in repairing selling or manufacturing the Kindle with Keyboard. As far as I can see all the later Kindles have touchscreens and will have the same problems as this one. You’d be as well reading on your phone or tablet.Amazon have overshot the mark and produced just another computer.It’s OK for the moment as you can get repairs and refurbished KK on ebay which will probably do me for the rest of my lifetime but the future looks bleak for dedicated readers.J'ai un Kindle depuis bien longtemps. J'avais commencé avec le modèle de base, sans écran tactile, sans éclairage et j'adorais totalement. Malheuresement, il ne tenait plus la charge après de nombreuses années de bonheur.... Logiquement j'ai voulu le remplacer par un autre Kindle. J'ai pris de nouveau le modèle de base, car je veux uniquement lire avec, pas besoin d'autres fonctions. Ben je suis quand même déçue. L'autonomie est moindre que mon vieux, et l'écran est pénible. Je savais qu'on pouvait éclairer l'écran, mais je ne savais pas que c'était obligé sinon l'écran est noir et on ne voit que nenni. Du couo c'est relativement fatiguant pour les yeux, alors que l'ancien n'avait aucun éclairage et était bien plus comfortable comme écran. Du coup, quand il commence à faire sombre, il faut incliner l'écran à un certain angle sinon l"éclairage est gênant, et l'inclinaison change par rapport à l'endroit de l'écran qu'on lit..... Bref, c'est plus récent, c'est moins bien....The only thing I'm annoyed about is I spent an extra £6 to buy a cable as the listing said the kindle came without a cable. In fact it did come with one, so I wasted money as well as adding to plastic waste etc.So if you are looking to buy one and are told it doesn't have a cable - this might not be true!! Otherwise I'm pleased so far. I had an old kindle for many years and ahve missed being able to carry all my books. The app on the phone just isn't the same for reading. Looking forward to getting into more of my books again on the move :)The initial set up was okay... product displayed the incorrect time after selecting my country of residence, it did connect to my WiFi however would then not let me log into my amazon account. All my details were correct, didn't work, tried my partner's log in, didn't work. We then tried to create a new account which left us with a blank screen and the only option was to restart and even then nothing changed.Really disappointed with this! I would not buy this refurbished product, more hassle which is not what I wanted.As someone who has owned a number of kindles over the years this is the best entry model yet. The backlight works well and the increased storage is a real boom.Although it came in a brown box, it was impossible to tell that it was not a new device. It works well and I'm hooked on reading yet again.
